Hours Away

Published by Jim Vassallo under Uncategorized Edit This

We are only a handful of hours away from kickoff at Lincoln Financial Field.

The Eagles are hosting the NFC West Division leading Arizona Cardinals.

Running back Correll Buckhalter and corner back Asante Samuel are doubtful for the Thursday night matchup.

That means the Eagles will have to face Anquan Boldin and Larry Fitzgerald without their top corner of the season.

QB Donovan McNabb and the rest of the team will be greeted with a ton of boos as they step onto the field for tonight’s game after tying Cincinnati two weeks ago and getting plastered by Baltimore last Sunday.

McNabb will more than likely be on a short leash for a second week in a row and could be pulled for the second consecutive week in favor of Kevin Kolb if he does not play better.

Westbrook Returns

Published by Jim Vassallo under Uncategorized Edit This

Good news out of Eagles practice today as running back Brian Westbrook returned to the practice field for the Eagles.

He had missed Sunday’s game against the Chicago Bears with an ankle injury and had missed practice all of last week and the start of this week.

Aside from Westbrook there were other injured players either not participating or participating for the first time this week in practice.

L.J. Smith returned to practice, he had been bothered by back problems and missed Sunday’s game. Shawn Andrews still sat out of practice with a back problem. Dan Klecko was limited in practice today with a hand injury and defensive back Asante Samuel was also limited with a chest injury.

The best sign of them all was that Westbrook was back. He isn’t 100 percent healthy yet but it is a great sign that he is back on the football field working out with the team.

The rest of the week should determine how the Eagles will stake up against the Redskins this Sunday. If they can get Smith and Westbrook back on the field and McNabb’s chest to stop hurting then their red zone offense shouldn’t be as ugly as it was against the Bears.

They went 1 for 4 against the Bears.
