Round One

Round one of the NFC playoffs for the 2008 season is going to be an interesting one for the Eagles. They will be facing the Minnesota Vikings, who are coached by former Eagles’ offensive coordinator Brad Childress.

Not only will the Birds be facing one of their former coaches but the game will also mean the playoff debut for a ton of Eagles players.

There are veterans left on this year’s team from the team that went to the Super Bowl. There aren’t many though.

That list is quite short and it includes Brian Westbrook, L.J. Smith, Correll Buckhalter, Donovan McNabb, Tra Thomas, Jon Runyan, Greg Lewis, David Akers, Brian Dawkins, Lito Sheppard and Sheldon Brown.

The list of newcomers to the playoff scene for the Eagles that will more than likely be starting on Sunday is long:

Brent Celek (if Smith cannot play), DeSean Jackson, Quintin Demps, Sav Rocca, Akeem Jordan, Stewart Bradley, Chris Gocong, Chris Clemons, Nick Cole and Trevor Laws.

The Eagles will need a strong balance of play between the playoff veterans and the playoff newcomers if they want to knock off the Vikings in round one.
