McNabb Benched Sunday; to Start Thursday

Published by Jim Vassallo at 10:17 pm under Games, General Football, NFC, News and Notes Edit This

Head coach Andy Reid benched QB Donovan McNabb for the second half of the Eagles’ 36-7 loss against the Baltimore Ravens for his continued lack of success on the field.

On Monday, Reid announced that his starting QB for Thursday will be McNabb, despite the benching on Sunday.

McNabb threw two first half interceptions and lost a fumble after committing four turnovers by himself in the team’s tie with the Cincinnati Bengals last week.

He has committed seven turnovers in seven quarters of play in the past two weeks (six regulation and one overtime).

McNabb will start against the Arizona Cardinals on Thursday at home after his poor performance at Cincinnati and at Baltimore.

McNabb has not seen the home crowd in a couple of weeks, which should not be in a good mood since the Eagles are out of the playoff picture with five games still left to play.
