Embarrassing; A Tie

Published by Jim Vassallo at 10:28 pm under Games, General Football, NFC, News and Notes Edit This

Wow was Sunday an embarrassment.

I warned Eagles fans earlier this week, in fact last night, to beware the 1-8 Cincinnati Bengals.

Why?

Because the Bengals have nothing, absolutely nothing, to lose. The 5-4 Eagles tied, that’s right, tied, the Bengals.

13-13 after 5 quarters.

Embarrassing.

It was the first tie in the NFL since 2002 and the first for the Eagles since 1997. The team finished 6-9-1 that season.

That game was against the Baltimore Ravens and it ended in a 10-10 tie.

But, back to today.

The Eagles offense was brutal to watch, especially Donovan McNabb. McNabb accounted for four turnovers. Four of them. He lost a fumble and threw three interceptions. McNabb finished 28 of 58 for 339 yards, one touchdown and the three interceptions. The Eagles’ leading receiver was Kevin Curtis who caught 7 balls for 64 yards.

L.J. Smith caught McNabb’s lone touchdown pass.

Brian Westbrook finished with 60 rushing yards on 14 attempts. His long was 22 yards.

The Eagles defense sacked Cincinnati quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick eight times but were only able to grab one turnover on a fumble recovery.

This game is so disgusting that I can’t discuss it anymore right now. I will have more on this embarrassing game on Monday.
