Playoff Hopes Dwindling

As the second half began late Sunday night in South Philadelphia, the Eagles were hanging with the toughest team in the NFC and the NFC East, going into the third quarter trailing 20-17 to the Giants.

The second half wasn’t as good as the first half for the Eagles. They fell to the now 8-1 Giants by a score of 36-31. The Eagles record is now at 5-4 and are three games behind the Giants, who are in the process of running away with the division title.

McNabb did throw two more second half touchdown passes, to Hank Baskett and Kevin Curtis, but it wasn’t enough to overtake the Giants.

The Eagles defense could not stop the run as the Giants gained 219 yards on the ground and scored two of their touchdowns via the ground game.

The Eagles were only able to gain 106 yards on the ground, only 26 of them coming from Brian Westbrook, on 13 carries.

Wide receiver DeSean Jackson was the only player on the Eagles to score a rushing touchdown, which came out of the ‘wildcat’ formation. He took a direct snap and ran the ball nine yards into the endzone for the game’s first score.

The Eagles need to regroup before they face the Cincinnati Bengals on Sunday.
