Banner Day for Celek

It was a banner day for tight end Brent Celek on Sunday in the Eagles 26-7 win over the Seahawks in Seattle.

The Birds offense struggled to get going in the first quarter, as they could not muster a point during their first three possessions.

Celek, starting at tight end for the injured L.J. Smith who was out with a concussion, set a record for Eagles tight ends with 131 yards receiving.

It is an Eagles franchise record for tight end receiving yards in a regular season game. He picked up the 131 yards on only six receptions.

He did not have a score though.

The Eagles have been needed a strong presence from their tight end for the past handful of seasons and just haven’t gotten the production from Smith or any of his usual backups.

Celek will more than likely start again this Sunday night when the Eagles play host to the New York Giants at Lincoln Financial Field.

Smith will more than likely miss practice the entire week.

Victory Over Seahawks

The Eagles kept pace in the NFC East and overtook the Cowboys for third place within in the division with a 26-7 win on the road over the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday evening.

The Birds are now 5-3 on the season and have won three games in a row for the first time all season.

Donovan McNabb was on target all afternoon with his arm and needed to be since Brian Westbrook had trouble running the football.

That was the only problem the Eagles had all day in their rout of the Seahawks.

Tight end Brent Celek, who started in place of the injured L.J. Smith (concussion), had a career day in helping the Birds pick up their fifth victory of the season.

Offensive lineman Todd Herremans caught his first career pass for a one yard touchdown in the second quarter as the Eagles were setup with their goal line offense.

Herremans reported as an eligible receiver out of the tackle spot and was wide open in the end zone for a touchdown.

The Seahawks scored on their first offensive play from scrimmage on a 90 yard touchdown pass from Seneca Wallace to Koren Robinson and did not score the rest of the game.
