Bad News for Andrews

Offensive guard Shawn Andrews received some bad news on Wednesday as well as the rest of the team and Eagles fans.

Andrews will miss anywhere from six weeks to three months of time due to surgery he had this week.

Not to take away from the job that Max Jean-Gilles has done filling in for the absent Andrews, but Andrews will miss at least another six weeks of the season, and it hurts to lose a guy that has started 48 games for the Eagles coming into the 2008 season.

Jean-Gilles, coming into the 2008 season, had played in four games and started only one of them. All of those games played came in 2007.

Andrews had back surgery to repair a herniated disk that had been bothering him since the Dallas game in week two.

The Eagles did not place Andrews on injured reserve in hopes that he might return to play sometime towards the end of the season. If a player is placed on injured reserve that ends the remainder of their season and they cannot play until next year.

The Eagles have not completely ruled out placing Andrews on the inujured reserve but will wait and see how he progresses with his recovery before making any roster moves.
