A Win is a Win

Published by Jim Vassallo at 2:22 pm under Games, General Football, NFC, News and Notes Edit This

The Eagles actually held on in the second half of a football game this week as they beat the San Francisco 49ers 40-26 Sunday.

The Eagles blew their 17-16 first half lead and trailed 26-17 early in the second half. The team didn’t score any third quarter points but put up 23 in the fourth.

The play of the game came from defensive end Juqua Parker. He intercepted a J.T. O’Sullivan pass and took it 55 yards for a score to cap the game with under a minute remaining.

The Birds are finally back to even with a 3-3 record and have their bye week this week.

Brian Westbrook should be able to return to action following the bye week and Shawn Andrews will be seeing another specialist this week for his back problems.

Victor Abiamiri made his 2008 season debut on Sunday, seeing time at defensive tackle for Jim Johnson’s defense.

Dan Klecko’s number was changed from 68 to 49 because the Eagles moved him, again, to fullback after he played the first handful of games as a defensive tackle.

The team wasn’t thrilled with Tony Hunt’s blocking. He is a former running back. Hunt is now listed as Klecko’s backup on the depth chart.

Being an SF 49er die hard fan I am haeartbroken over that game. The Eagles did a great job. Our problem is JT does not have the protection he needs. He’s running all over the field. Plus our coach, Nolan makes some ridiculou calls. In any case Congrats!
