Ugly Loss Turns Uglier

The Eagles and their fans received even more bad news on Monday morning when it was announced that running back Brian Westbrook, just back from an ankle injury, suffered two broken ribs during Sunday’s 23-17 loss to the Washington Redskins.

Westbrook missed the Eagles’ 24-20 loss a week ago to the Bears because of an ankle injury he suffered in the team’s win over the Pittsburgh Steelers and finally returned to the field Sunday.

Now, head coach Andy Reid is unsure if Westbrook will be physically able to play this weekend against the San Francisco 49ers.

The news just keeps getting worse for the Birds and their fans. After a lackluster performance on Sunday in which the Eagles scored 14 points in the first quarter and only three the rest of the game, the team keeps suffering injury setbacks.

There is no timetable yet on when Shawn Andrews will return from his back problems or when wide receiver Kevin Curtis will be able to play again. Curtis has missed the entire season so far with a sports hernia.
