Possible Must Win Turns to Ugly Loss
In what was more than likely a must win game for the Eagles they fell to division rivals the Washington Redskins on Sunday at The Linc 23-17.
The worst part? They blew a 14-0 lead.
Granted the 14-0 lead was in the first quarter but it was still a 14-0 lead to say the least.
The Eagles scored two touchdowns within seconds of each one in the first quarter and stumbled from there.
Brian Westbrook, back from an ankle injury, had a 9 yard touchdown run to open the scoring and then DeSean Jackson returned his first punt for a touchdown when he took one 68 yards to the house.
Shaun Suisham hit three field goals in the second quarter to make it a 14-9 game. The Skins took the lead for good in the third quarter when Chris Cooley caught an 18 yard pass from wide receiver Antwaan Randle-El.
Clinton Portis added a fourth quarter TD on a four yard scamper and David Akers capped the scoring with a 23 yard field goal with just about 7 minutes left.
The Eagles will go back to the drawing board on Tuesday after an off day on Monday.
Shawn Andrews was held out of the game Sunday with lingering back problems.
