The Day After

Published by Jim Vassallo at 4:29 pm under Games, General Football, NFC, News and Notes Edit This

Its Monday.

Its the day after the Eagles took a 24-20 loss to the Bears in Chicago and it all can be blamed, at least in my opinion, on Andy Reid and Marty Mornhinweg.

With first and goal on the Bears three yard line the Eagles were unable to score the go ahead touchdown on the ensuing four attempts. They turned the ball over on downs with just over two minutes remaining in the game.

The offense tried to stuff the ball in on the ground four straight times. No pass plays and no quarterback sneaks.

Why didn’t McNabb get the ball?

Andy Reid said that he wasn’t going to put McNabb, who was hurting, in a position to get hurt even more by making him run the ball in himself.

Then give him a chance to win the game with his arm.

Brian Westbrook was inactive with a bad ankle and now we know that the backup running backs can’t get the job done in the red zone.

Correll Buckhalter had a decent game but couldn’t get the job done when it counted most.

Now the Birds are 2-2 on the season and return home this Sunday to take on the 3-1 Washington Redskins.
