The Philadelphia Eagles made their final roster cuts on Saturday, minutes before the league’s 6pm deadline, and there weren’t many surprises either.

Defensive end Jerome McDougle was the biggest surprise to be cut on Saturday after such an impressive season.

There just weren’t enough spots for McDougle on this team and his past history of injuries made him expendable.

Here are the final cuts from Saturday:

Defensive end Jerome McDougle, guard Scott Young, fullbacks Jed Collins and Jason Davis, tight end Kris Wilson, wide receivers Michael Gasperson and Shaheer McBride, defensive tackles Montae Reagor and Mike Marquardt, linebackers Andy Studebaker and Justin Roland and cornerback Kyle Arrington.

Two players were placed on injured reserve. They were offensive linemen King Dunlap and Mike Gibson. Dunlap has an ankle injury and Gibson has a shoulder injury. Both were from this year’s draft class.

No one has been named to the practice squad yet. That can be done Sunday at noon and the limit is eight players. Andy Reid and Tom Heckert will sift through the number of players that were released on Saturday to see if any of them will help the team in 2008 on the active roster, which is probably not finalized yet.

Another notable cut by the Eagles from Friday was running back Ryan Moats, who was waived via injury. Moats never fully grasped the Eagles offensive scheme.

Here is how the roster breakdown looks after cuts:

QB: Donovan McNabb, Kevin Kolb, A.J Feeley.

RB: Brian Westbrook, Correll Buckhalter, Lorenzo Booker, and Tony Hunt as the fullback.

WR: Kevin Curtis, Reggie Brown, Greg Lewis, Jason Avant, Hank Baskett, and DeSean Jackson.

Tight Ends: L.J. Smith, Matt Schobel, and Brent Celek.

Offensive Linemen: Tackles Tra Thomas, Winston Justice, Jon Runyan. Guards Shawn Andrews, Todd Herremans, Max Jean-Gilles, Mike McGlynn. Centers Jamaal Jackson and Nick Cole.

Defensive Linemen: Defensive ends Trent Cole, Darren Howard, Juqua Parker, Victor Abiamiri, Chris Clemons, Bryan Smith. Tackles Dan Klecko, Trevor Laws, Mike Patterson, Brodrick Bunkley.

Linebackers: Chris Gocong, Omar Gaither, Joe Mays, Stewart Bradley, Akeem Jordan, Rocky Boiman.

Defensive Backs: Corners Lito Sheppard, Sheldon Brown, Asante Samuel, Joselio Hanson. Safeties Brian Dawkins, Quintin Mikell, Sean Considine, J.R. Reed, Quintin Demps.

Specialists: David Akers, Sav Rocca, Jon Dorenbos.

This is the roster as of 9pm Saturday night but if might change between now and Sunday afternoon.
